"We combined our visit to the dinsoaur footprints with a visit to the Staffin Musuem. This cosy museum holds the largest collection of dinosaur fossils in Scotland. Luckily, we visited the museum first where the very nice owner/attendant was delighted to provide us answers to our questions and very clear directions to the foorprints. We already made sure that we were in the neighbourhood during the low tide (otherwise the footprints are flooded) but the helpful owner/attendant pointed out that a few days prior to our visit the most famous and closest footprints were covered with sand. Therefore, he recommend that we went to another beach near Duntulm Castle where a paleontologist was busy recording the footprints. we followed his advice and were rewarded with a clear explanation about the different kind of footprints by a very enthusiastic paleontologist. The footprints are literally EVERYWHERE! This was an amazing day for us!"

"A Dino Stop at Staffin" | March 2017
"We were on the Isle of Skye as part of a tour. The weather was dreadful so we were taken to this small but very interesting museum. just north of Kilt Rock Falls. It is an unassuming stone building, the sort of place on would probably just drive past. But it is well worth the visit. The owner showed us around and had fascinating stories. There is an interesting collection of fossils."

"A small museum in an old croft house near Kilt Rock viewpoint. An amazing collection of artifacts, reflecting life on Skye over a long period, Neolithic arrow heads, local fossils and dinosaur prints as well as household and farm objects.
Mostly collected by the owner, he was most knowledgeable and interesting, and explained the history of many of the objects, including the stories behind some of the donated objects. Very well worth stopping to view, a veritable treasure trove within a small Croft house."

"The lovely lady at the Staffin Dinosaur Museum opened especially for me so I had the place to myself. It had loads of fossils and dinosaur footprints which was awesome, and they're all found locally. I highly recommend it!"

"My son had a fantastic time visiting the museum last Monday. Staff were great and took the time to tell him about two fossils that he brought
from East Lothian.
Highly recommended if you're on the Isle of Skye to visit."

"Very good for dinosaur enthusiasts big and small. Should also be combined with a visit to the Staffin museum. I made the mistake of looking for the dinosaur footprints before going to the Staffin Museum and the museum was closed by the time I got there. So will have to go back another time to visit the museum."

"Thanks so much to Dugie for taking our party of nine for a fascinating walk around Staffin to see many of the archaeological wonders of the area and, of course, the dinosaur footprints! We learned such a lot about the history, geography, geology, flora and fauna and the weather was fabulous too. The museum is a great testament to Dugie's enthusiasm and commitment and we were very lucky to be able to enjoy it out of season."

"After you have had a look for the Dinosaur footprints, head back into Staffin and visit the Staffin Museum which is about 2 km outside town on Portree Road. It is a privately-run museum owned by Dugald Ross. He gets no official support and depends totally upon the entrance fee of £2.00.
Dugald was the first person to discover that Dinosaurs inhabited Skye and he has made a very important contribution to knowledge about the Isle. Inside the Museum you will find a fossilized leg bone. Dugald will also give you a thorough briefing on all the artefacts."
